CITY ON A HILL

“You are the light of the world.
A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."
– Matthew 5:14 –

A Letter from Pastor Paul

Heritage Family,

For over 17 years, Heritage Christian Fellowship has strived to shine brightly as a gospel-centered body of believers dedicated to making disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus. We’ve sought to faithfully live out this mission in our homes, schools, neighborhoods and work places all across our valley and to the ends of the earth. This is who we’ve been from the beginning and who we believe God has called us to be as we step into our future.

Today, we dream of a permanent home to better live out our mission—a simple facility serving as a tool that will enable us to continue carrying out the work God has given us. We believe the time has come for our church to step forward in faith, to raise the needed resources and build a new home for our church. We are praying for a permanent facility from which to make disciples who make disciples and shine the light of Jesus brightly across our valley.

Situated along Foothill Drive on the east edge of Medford is an empty piece of land that God has entrusted to our church. This 6+ acre parcel sits on the edge of our growing city, overlooking the valley. The surrounding land that will soon be a bustling neighborhood and a growing mission field. With no other churches nearby, we believe this is the place God has called us to build our future home and sink roots for the gospel for generations to come.

We, as one part of the larger church of Christ in the Rogue Valley, are to be the light of the world. We are to be as a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. May we, together as the people of Heritage, shine brightly for His glory!

With gratitude in Christ,
Pastor Paul Stevens

Jesus said the church is to be “the light of the world.” Like a city on a hill cannot be hidden, so too the church of Christ must shine brightly for all to see (Matthew 5:14).

To Him Be the Glory

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden… Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14, 16b (ESV)

FAQ

Most frequent questions and answers.
  • Heritage and Cascade Schools are both growing and access to space is increasingly limited
  • Ministry innovation and growth are hindered due to limited space
  • A building is a resource to more boldly evangelize the Rogue Valley
  • Without weekly setup and teardown, volunteer efforts can shift to outward mission
  • Our conviction to be in a neighborhood and in an area with no other churches.
  • Extensive property searches yielded no viable options for renovation
  • The land we will build on was donated, which guided our decision to build
  • Building enables us to customize our facility to our vision and needs

Though there are multiple factors that will dictate when construction will begin, we are hoping to break ground in the spring of 2026
  • Our budget is $7.1 million.
  • With $5 million already raised, we are seeking to raise an additional $2.1 million
  • Heritage is committed to stay within our financial reach and will not overextend financially and thus limit ministry effectiveness
  • We will only move forward in wise stewardship

  • There will be ample opportunity for the people of Heritage to help at various stages of the construction process, including congregants who are in the skilled trades serving throughout the building process
  • There will be invitations to contribute financially during our campaign this fall.
  • Constant access to space for fellowship, ministry and mission
  • More and better space for children, youth and families to gather and grow
  • Space for discipleship and for equipping the saints for ministry
  • Space for the raising up and sending out disciples for the sake of mission
  • A warm and welcoming place for the community to encounter Jesus
  • A sanctuary within which to gather and worship each week
  • There’s no doubt that moving to a new facility in a new neighborhood will lead to some foreseen and unforeseen changes for our church. Our mission and focus to make disciples who make disciples, will remain our constant focus.  A new facility will not change our DNA or our mission, but will simply serve as a tool to better enable us to do this work God has given us.
